Wype-Out Every Thursday evening during term time, from 7:30pm-9pm, a group of around 50 young people from Years 7-12 meet at Whittlesey Baptist Church and have a really good time. Most weeks, we split into two age groups with Years 7-9 going in one group and Years 10 and upwards going in another group. Thursday nights are brilliant – many of the young people who come started coming when they were 11 and are now 15,16 & 17! We offer a range of activities such as trips out to McDonalds, bowling & Ferry Meadows; from time to time running around games; banner painting; various cooking type events such as pizzas & desserts and we have some great barbecues. The evening usually starts with a short, relevant Bible message, followed by a drink and crisps and then the activity. Twice a year, we take most of the youngsters on a weekend away in Norfolk where we have an absolutely brilliant time.
We charge 50p a week, there is a great atmosphere so why not come and join us. Wype-Out stands for Whittlesey Young People’s Evangelistic Outreach. We offer a really good time for young people in a safe environment, but our main aim is to teach the truths of the Bible to as many young people in Whittlesey as possible. The Bible may have been written a long time ago, but it is God’s Word and therefore speaks to us today. We have recently looked at some things in the Bible that were written by a very wise king called Solomon. He was rich, famous and had ‘been there, seen it and done it’ with just about everything in life. Reflecting on life he wrote that ‘Everything is meaningless without God and that we are to ‘Remember our Creator (i.e. God) in the days of our youth’ The only Way we can know God is through Jesus who said ‘I am the Way, the Truth and the Life’.
