Meltdown Review 2009 In 2009, we had around 85 different young people attend the 4 Meltdown events which was outstanding! We kicked off on the Thursday night with an ice skating trip. The standard of skating was mixed with some people looking like pros and others spending a lot of time laying on the ice (someone fell over 38 times!) Afterwards we had BLT’s at the church and heard a talk about the fact that one day we will all meet Jesus and He will only welcome us into heaven if we have turned to Him and said sorry for our sin.
On the Friday night, we had a Gladiators event at AJS where we had sumo wresting, running the gauntlet with the leaders and a water fight, amongst other things. Back at the church hall we ate hot dogs and doughnuts before listening to a talk about our need to “have God’s Son and therefore to have life.” Only by trusting Him can we have eternal life in heaven. Saturday saw us go to Old Hunstanton, where we had warm, still weather. The sea was lovely, we had a sand modelling competition and an amazing barbecue. We heard a talk about the great invitation we have from Jesus to join Him in heaven by believing in Him and turning from our sin. We were reminded that we should not put accepting this invitation off until we are older, but need to turn to Jesus today! Then on Saturday 12th September we went to Hungarton Farm Activity Centre for the day and what a day it was! We had tractor rides, fed the animals, went swimming, played in the hay and on the rope swings and so much more. At the end we heard how the Bible teaches us that we need to repent for the forgiveness of our sins. That means we need to turn from going our own way and turn and want to go God’s way! In summary, it was an excellent time. Everyone behaved themselves making the atmosphere brilliant. We have now done 5 Meltdowns and they have all been different, but have all been such good times. Our sixth in 2010 promises to be just as good so please join us – you won’t be disappointed!
