Meltdown Review 2006 The 2006 Meltdown was the biggest yet with 63 different people from Years 6-12 attending and an average of over 40 at each event. That is really encouraging to the leaders because the fact that people keep coming back (and are bringing their friends) means they must be really enjoying it! Good numbers also give the whole thing such a great atmosphere so we are grateful to all of those who came last year and look forward to seeing you this year at the 2007 Meltdown.
As in previous years, it all started with a trip to Activity World which was absolutely brilliant! The giant spiders web and drop slide provided the main attractions. On the Friday night we enjoyed water games on AJS school field. It was good that it was a warm evening because we did get very wet bursting water balloons by sitting on them, fishing sweets out of paddling pools and running the ‘wet sponge’ gauntlet. At the end, we had great fun trying to slide as far as we could along a sheet of polythene covered in washing up liquid. Some people managed to go the full 6 metres (20 feet). Saturday saw us head to old Hunstanton for a wonderful day on the beach. Again the weather was great and many braved going in the sea. Volleyball, football and cricket were all played. Some of the young people dug out an enormous mound of sand which was extremely impressive! This all happened in July. We then had the opportunity to get back together again in September and head to an outdoor activity centre at Hungarton Farm in Leicestershire. The place changes every time we go there. The rope swings were great, as was the bouncy castle and the swimming pool is no ordinary swimming pool. We even had a tractor and trailer ride! Each event closed with a Bible talk where we were challenged to think seriously about the Lord Jesus Christ and what His life and death should mean to us today.
